Alex Dolan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexandra Marie Dolan is a weather presenter, and former journalist and science teacher who went undercover for the 2005 Channel 4 documentary Undercover Teacher.[1] For this, she was suspended from teaching for one year by the General Teaching Council with the claim that she had 'breached student trust'.[2] The decision has received criticism from both teachers and commentators.[3]

Early life[edit]

Dolan was born in Cuckfield, in West Sussex. She has an older brother. She attended The Leys School, an independent school in Cambridge and Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies. She took A-levels in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology, passing two in 1993.[4] But it was at the third attempt in August 1995 that she got two Bs in Biology and Psychology, thanks to the excellent teaching at the Cambridge Sixth Form.[5]

She studied marine biology at Newcastle University. In 2019, Dolan moved from Norwich to Cromer in Norfolk.[6]

Career[edit]

Dolan presented and filmed undercover for the 2005 Channel 4 documentary Undercover Teacher.[1] She was a presenter on Sky's television programme Ocean Rescue in 2008.[7] She returned to presenting the weather on BBC Look East on 5 January 2016 following maternity leave.[citation needed]
